Beware of the Spiritual Serial Killers

Most of society is pretty afraid of serial killers and rightfully so, but what's quite ironic is how so many professing Christians gravitate towards and even support far worse killers, murderers who do much more than steal a few decades of someone's temporal life. These far worse monsters kill and take away millions upon millions of years of someone's next life, destroying their entire eternity while leaving their present life relatively intact by comparison. Most of these people have no idea that they are monsters. Most are fully convinced that they are doing the Lord's work while they are unknowingly working diligently for the devil.

And because the present life of their victims appears to remain untouched during their reign of unseen terror (and their condition is often misinterpreted as an improved life), these killers are able to operate pretty much invisibly. But those who understand and hold to the true Gospel of grace have the spiritual “X-Ray” glasses to be able to see them!

And just who are these spiritual serial killers? They are the multitude of professing Christians today who actively teach or preach (either subtly or blatantly) a false gospel of works-salvation, which is a false anti-Gospel that actually sends people to hell. Why? Because it denies the sufficiency of Christ. It denies that the sacrifice of Christ is complete. It denies the free gift of God's saving grace and it denies true repentance which is a changed mind towards God that results in a transfer of trust from self (or idols, etc.) to God. Repentance for salvation is not a ceasing from sin regardless of the clear benefits that giving up certain sins can bring to one's life. This type of repentance is for the Christian walk. It's part of discipleship.

But the infinitely dangerous false teachers assert works such as repentance of sin as being required for salvation, as a false sacrifice, as if giving up something as evil, flawed and black as sin can remotely compare to the sinless sacrifice of the perfect white-as-snow Lamb of God. And for someone to even think that sacrificing something as despicable and dirty as sin can save them is ludicrous. God never accepted three legged bulls or blemished sheep as a sacrifice. And He is not going to accept someone giving up their flawed dirty sin as an acceptable sacrifice for sin either. Jesus is the only acceptable sacrifice for sin. Sin cannot be a sacrifice for sin. The idea itself is just ridiculous, but yet this is one of the most popular ideas being promoted in professing Christian circles today.

The result is we see all kind of people trying (and failing) to give up their sins in order to be saved, while never once actually placing their trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins. God requires perfection. Jesus alone is the perfect sinless Son of God, the unblemished Lamb of God. He did it all. There is nothing for us to do except to trust Him and rest in His finished work, knowing that all our works are as dirty rags. If it were possible for us to contribute anything to our salvation, then the death, burial and resurrection of Christ according to 1Cor 15:1-4 would not be sufficient to save us. The work of Christ would be incomplete. But we know that His work is 100% complete. Ironically, Christians who continue to rest in Christ and who do not fall into the heresy of trying to give up their sins in order to be saved (or to maintain their salvation) tend to have more victory and far less problems with sin in their lives.

But the eternity killers puts people back under the law in the form of having to do works, creating a so-called “gospel” that asserts merit and personal performance in order to attain eternal life. These killers are those who tempt and even prevent people from placing their trust in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins. Instead, they actually intensify their victims' trust in and reliance upon themselves or upon some other false idol, while ironically this misplaced trust is the very thing that preachers are supposed to be calling people to repent of and forsake. But the spiritual serial killers do the exact opposite. They amplify self-reliance and the determination of their victims to emphasize their alleged ability to earn their way to heaven. This stands in stark contrast with the true Gospel of grace where we see that Jesus Christ has already paid the full price for our sins and has already done everything on our behalf for our salvation. Our job is simply to trust Him and trust that He did so.

If you are listening to or supporting these criminals, stop now. Don't contribute to and be an accessory to their eternal crimes.
